Occasionally I get to play with some neat hardware for work. Servers, laptops, occasionally some other strange things. Recently I was asked to purchase a rather powerful piece of hardware on order for a project at our office.
Yep, that’s 18K CAD for a single computer.
It’s got to be the most expensive single computer that I’ve been told to source while working at my office and I’m somewhat interested in seeing what it’s capable of once we get our hands on it. The 16-18 week lead time is something of a bummer but given the number of these things that are getting gobbled up for LLM use it’s not really shocking to see.
